GE said on Tuesday it will supply Vienna-based renewable energy developer RP
Global with twelve wind turbines with combined capacity of 34 megawatts (MW) for
the Rudine wind farm in Croatia.
The project will be co-developed with
Croatia's Adria Wind Power, and will be located near the southern coastal city
of Dubrovnik. The Rudine farm - with total project cost estimated at 53 million
euro ($66.2 million), could produce more than 85 gigawatt-hours of wind energy
per year.
The wind farm - GE’s first with RP Global and Adria Wind Power
- will contribute to the Croatian renewable energy production goal of providing
20% of the country’s final energy consumption by 2020, in line with EU targets,
GE said in a statement.
The wind farm contract will include a 15-year
operations and maintenance agreement.
"After the success of our wind
power plant Danilo near Sibenik, RP Global continues to align experience with
the latest technology [..]” Bojan Rescec, RP Global’s country manager for
Croatia, said.
RP Global launched into operation the 43.7 MW Danilo wind
farm earlier this year.
After setting up the renewables incentive system
in 2007 and joining the EU in 2013, Croatia has added almost 300 MW of wind
capacity.
As a developer, investor and operator, RP Global’s focus is on
hydro and wind energy projects
