Turkish oil refiner Tupras will buy the
oil transported from Iraq to Turkey's Ceyhan port on the Mediterranean coast,
Tupras deputy director Hasan Tan said as quoted by news agency Anadolu Ajansi.
The amount of oil to be purchased and the time span are to be determined, Tan
told the agency on the sidelines of the Atlantic Council Energy and Economic
Summit 2014 in Istanbul.
On Wednesday, local media quoted Turkey’s energy
minister Taner Yildiz as saying that the government of Iraq would soon restart
the transport of oil to Turkey, which was halted in March.
Last week,
Iraq and the regional government of Kurdistan settled their dispute regarding
revenue sharing from the export of oil from Kurdistan. The two sides agreed that
the regional government of Kurdistan will place 150,000 barrels a day of crude
oil at the disposal of the federal Iraqi government and the Iraqi government
will pay $500 million (398 million) to the Kurdistan government.
