A tie-up, led by Italy's Salini Impregilo Group, has been awarded a 260 million
euro ($323 million) hydro power plant construction contract in southeastern
Turkey, Salini said.
"The Salini Impregilo Group with an 85% share in
joint venture with the local company NTF, has been awarded a contract for the
construction of the civil works related to the Cetin main hydroelectric plant on
the Botan river, a tributary of the Tigris River in the province of Siirt, in
the southeastern part of Turkey," it said in a statement posted on its website
on Monday.
The contract comprises construction of a rock-fill dam with an
asphalt core with a volume of 11.5 million cubic metres, intake works, spillway
and open-air power plant for an installed power of 400 megawatts and 1,100
gigawatt hours per year, Salini said.
According to the statement, the
project aims at supplying Turkey and Europe with clean energy, and creating jobs
and local development.
