Romania plans tobuilda 230 million euro ($286 million)pipeline that will
carrynatural gas from the Black Sea to Podisor village in the southern county
of Giurgiu, local media reported on Tuesday.
"For Romania, the most
important infrastructure project related to natural gas is the Dobrogea-Podisor
pipeline, which will bring gas from the Black Sea into the Romanian transport
system," Romanian minister delegate for energyRazvan Nicolescu told news agency
Mediafax.
Romania hopes to receive financial support from the European
Commission for this project, he added.
OMV Petrom and ExxonMobil
discovered a gas deposit estimated at between 42 and84 billion cubic metres in
the Black Sea in 2012. Production, however, is not expected to begin before the
end of the current decade.
