Six in every 10 new cars being sold in Greece are diesel powered,
according to the latest data of the Association of Car Importers and
Representatives.
In the first 10 months of last year 62.2 percent
of cars sold in Greece ran on diesel, while in the years before a ban on
diesel vehicles in large cities was lifted in November 2011, the share
of diesel vehicles did not exceed 4 percent according to 2010 figures.
Diesel
car sales soared from 9,354 in 2008 to 37,229 in the January-October
2014 period, despite a major drop in overall car sales.
