Syria, Turkey To Set Up Oil Exploration, Devt JV

BEIRUT (Zawya Dow Jones)--State-owned Syrian Petroleum Co and Turkish Petroleum Co have agreed to set up an oil exploration and development joint-venture to operate in both countries, the official Syrian Arab News Agency SANA reported Thursday citing the Syrian Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources Soufian Allao.

BEIRUT (Zawya Dow Jones)--State-owned Syrian Petroleum Co and Turkish Petroleum Co have agreed to set up an oil exploration and development joint-venture to operate in both countries, the official Syrian Arab News Agency SANA reported Thursday citing the Syrian Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources Soufian Allao.

Allao told SANA that he has agreed with the general director of Turkish Petroleum to implement means for transporting Iranian and Azeri natural gas to Syria by the Turkish company as soon as possible.

Both parties also agreed to cooperate in the fields of oil derivatives export and import in addition to exploring the possibility of refining crude oil in Syria as well as setting up fuel distribution stations there, Allao said.
