Russia's natural gas monopoly OAO Gazprom (GAZP.RS) says it is senseless to involve representatives of the European Union in natural gas talks between Ukraine and Russia, Sergey Kupriyanov, Gazprom's official representative said, Kyiv Post reports citing a radio interview with Russia's Echo of Moscow.

"There is not much sense over that... This is a sort of declaration rather than a specific proposal," he said of Ukraine's proposal to involve E.U. representatives in its natural gas talks with Russia.

At the same time, Kupriyanov said representatives of E.U. countries are concerned over the situation and Gazprom is keeping them informed.

Gazprom fully stopped the supply of natural gas to Ukraine Thursday.
