Brazil Petrobras Crude-Oil Production Slips 0.1% in November

Brazilian state-run energy giant Petroleo Brasileiro (PBR, PETR4.BR), or Petrobras, said late Monday that domestic crude-oil output dipped slightly in November, despite record production from massive new oil fields. Domestic crude-oil output slipped 0.1% to 1.957 million barrels a day, down from 1.959 million barrels a day in October, Petrobras said. Production in Brazil's pre-salt region, where billions of barrels were discovered trapped under a thick layer of salt, rose to a fresh record of 339,100 barrels a day in November, Petrobras said

Polish Utility PGE to Continue Nuclear Power Project Despite Delays

Polish state-controlled power utility PGE Polska Grupa Energetyczna SA (PGE.WA) and a group of other state-held companies will continue to work on a nuclear power plant project despite regulatory delays, PGE said Tuesday. In September, Poland's second-largest electricity producer, Tauron Polska Energia (TPE.WA), its smaller rival Enea SA (ENA.WA), and copper miner KGHM Polska Miedz SA (KGH.WA) each said they would buy 10% of PGE's nuclear project. PGE will retain 70%.

South Sudan Rebel Chief Sending Delegation to Peace Talks

South Sudan rebel leader Riek Machar said Tuesday he was sending a delegation for peace talks with the government and wasn't yet ready for face-to-face talks with Sudan's President Salva Kiir. Machar also ruled out an immediate ceasefire, saying this "needed to be negotiated" and that in the meantime the rebels were "still marching on Juba", the capital.

Σολομώντεια προς το παρόν φαίνεται να είναι η στάση που θα τηρήσει η Κομισιόν για το θέμα της εκμετάλλευσης του shale gas στα ευρωπαϊκά εδάφη. Από τη μία πλευρά αφήνει στην ευθύνη των ίδιων των κρατών-μελών την επιλογή για την αξιοποίηση της συγκεκριμένης αμφιλεγόμενης ενεργειακής πηγής, από την άλλη, όμως, «κλείνει το μάτι» στις περιβαλλοντικές οργανώσεις και τους φορείς, με τους οποίους θα ξεκινήσει από τον επόμενο μήνα γύρο διαβουλεύσεων, προκειμένου να καταγράψει τις απόψεις τους, ώστε να «ζυγίσει» την πολιτική που θα ακολουθήσει στον τομέα αυτό.
