Smart Reservoir Net Conference on "Earth Sciences and Energy-related Subsurface Technologies", Athens, 25-26 May, 2005 (24/05/2006)

Smart Reservoir Net, the FP5 Thematic Network on sustainable exploitation of natural resources, which is managed by Eurogif in Brussels, is organising a two-day conference on 25 and 26 May in Athens in cooperation with IENE. The objective of the first day of the conference, which is taking place at the President Hotel in Athens, is to meet representatives from industry, research institutes and universities of the Greek community and exchange ideas on: · Geothermal fields · Geological Storage of CO2 · Passive seismic: a new frontier subsurface exploration- environmentally friendly- technique · Tracer technology for improved characterisation of Hydrocarbon reservoirs · Upstream activities and policy · The upstream sector of Hellenic Petroleum The objective of the second day is to launch the discussion on the “Vision Master Plan” which will be published by the end of the year. Three parallel sessions will be organised on: · More efficient exploitation of existing fields and new production areas · CO2 storage: an opportunity for the hydrocarbon industry · Links and technology transfer to other industries/sectors EUROGIF, which runs Smart Reservoir Net, represents the European oil and gas service and supply industry. EUROGIF brings an industry perspective to the EU in terms of their formulation of both energy policy and Framework Programmes for sponsored research. EUROGIF also provides an arena for leveraging national research efforts through pan- European thematic networks, specific collaborative research projects and dissemination of information, research findings and development of best practice.
