French giant Alstom signed with Greek energy constructor’s Mytilineos Group subsidiary Metka an energy and environmental cooperation agreement for Greece and the wider south eastern Europe on Friday.
The agreement is seen as a preparatory stage for a future buyout move of Metka.
“We have discussed the possibility of a share capital cooperation with Alstom and we can’t rule it out in the future, “ said Evangelos Mytilineos, president of the Group.
The two companies will bid for a 400 MW lignite unit in Evia and for private electricity production units in 2007.
Metka will undertake the construction part of the projects with Alstom will offering the technological aid and the know-how.
Alstom is a world-class leader in transport and energy infrastructure projects, present in 70 countries with a workforce of around 60,000 employees. Almost of 90% of the group’s revenues, reaching EUR14 billion, is generated outside France.
