Public Power Corp’s board decided late Tuesday to bid for 2,100 MW lignite units in Kosovo along with Contour Global in the form of a consortium, according to a Greek newspaper. The Greek electricity producer has formed a joint venture with the U.S-based energy fund Contour Global earlier in the year but the entity has not received the necessary legal approvals yet. The deadline for the submission of bids for the Kosovo units expires Oct 31. However, daily Kathimerini says that once the joint venture, named SENCAP will receive the approvals, it will enter into the second phase of the tender as an independent company and not as a consortium. The same report says that the Kosovo government seeks political alliances in Europe and the U.S through the privatization of its energy production units.
