"Energy & Development 2006" - The Athens Energy Conference (09/11/2006)

The Institute of Energy for South East Europe is hosting the 11th National Conference on “Energy & Development 2006” at the Evgenidion Foundation on 14-16 Nov. in Athens. The Conference will be focused on energy strategy and the international and European developments in the oil, gas, electricity and renewable energy sources areas. The road towards the Single European energy market, and the establishment of the Energy Community in the SE Europe will be also discussed. The upcoming energy investment plans in SE Europe and the latest development in the RES sector will come under the spotlight. Keynote speakers in the conference include Andre Mernier of the Energy Charter Secretariat, Howard Chase of BP Europe, Julien Bulcke of Eurelectric, Pedro Azagra of Iderdrola, Dr Valentin Kunev of BPSPA, Trevor Morgan of International Energy Agency, Joachim Conrad of Switzerland’s EGL, Arthouros Zervos, president of EWEA, and Dr Nikolaos Bonanos of Riso in Denmark, Dimitris Maniatakis of Public Power Corp, Dr Panos Kavoulakos of Hellenic Petroleum, George Peristeris of Terna and many others. During the conference, the Institute of Energy for South East Europe will organize in the Evgenidion Foundation premises an energy technologies exhibition. Public Power Corp., Areva, Alstom, Terna Energy, Hellenic Petroleum, Shell Hellas, BP and Sunlight will participate. A number of smaller companies will also participate, exhibiting specialized products like photovoltaic and wind systems and heating solar systems. The entrance is free. Terna Energy is the major sponsor of the conference while Public Power Corp, Alstom and Hellenic Petroleum are the main sponsors. EGL, HELPE and Sunlight will kindly support the conference.
