SENCAP, an affiliated company of Public Power Corp and Contour Global will express interest for the development of a new lignite facility in Kosovo with an estimated installed capacity of 2,100 MW, SENCAP’s CEO told energia.gr.
The tender for the development of lignite facility involves and the associated new electric generating and transmission capacity and the rehabilitation of existing generators as well.
The deadline for the expressions of interest expires Nov 30. Initially it was scheduled for the end of October.
The total size of the investment is seen between EUR3.5 billion and EUR5 billion.
“SENCAP examines the possibility of finding another partner to bid jointly, but this is not a pre-condition,” SENCAP CEO Constantinos Panousopoulos said.
The second phase of the tender is seen commencing early 2007 and is likely to be competed by the end of next year.
The Greek electricity producer PPC has formed a joint venture with the U.S-based energy fund Contour Global earlier this year.
