SENCAP, an affiliated company of Public Power Corp and ContourGlobal along with Italy’s Enel S.p.A expressed interest for the development a new lignite facility in Kosovo with an estimated installed capacity of 2,100 MW, PPC said on Thursday.
The tender for the development of lignite facility involves and the associated new electric generating and transmission capacity and the rehabilitation of existing generators as well.
The total size of the investment is seen between EUR3.5 billion and EUR5 billion.
The second phase of the tender is seen commencing early 2007 and is likely to be competed by the end of next year.
The Greek electricity producer PPC has formed a joint venture with the U.S-based energy fund ContourGlobal earlier this year “aiming at acquiring and developing energy assets in the Southeastern Europe”, PPC said.
