Russian gas giant OAO Gazprom and China National Petroleum Corp. have reached consensus on the pricing mechanism for natural gas supplies to China, but haven't agreed on specific prices, Xinhua said Sunday, citing a senior Gazprom official.

Alexander Medvedev, Gazprom's deputy chairman, was quoted as saying that Russian gas prices "wouldn't be influenced by China's low natural gas import prices."

Russia agreed in March last year to supply China with up to 80 billion cubic meters of natural gas a year via two pipelines.
