Italian construction and energy firm Moncada Costruzioni plans to start building a 400-kilovolt power link this year with Albania to boost electricity imports to Italy.
“We have received all the necessary authorizations for building and starting up the... line,” a Moncada spokeswoman said yesterday, adding the company planned to start work this year.
The new power line with a capacity of 500 megawatts and total length of 145 km will connect Italy’s southern port of Brindisi and Albania’s Valona with a 130 km submarine link. Moncada has a 105 MW installed capacity in the country and plans to build a 500 MW wind park in Albania to export electricity to Italy.
