Spanish renewable energy company Iberdrola Renovables SA (IBR.MC) Tuesday said it has agreed to buy about 50 windpower projects in Romania, with a combined capacity of 1,600 megawatt, for between EUR200 million and EUR300 million.
Renovables, a unit of Spanish power utility Iberdrola SA (IBE.MC) and the world's biggest wind-power generator, said it will acquire the projects from Eolica Dobrogea, a unit of Switzerland's NEK and Romania's Rokura.
The company said the final price will depend on the number of projects purchased. It said the projects will come on stream from 2009.
