E.ON AG (EONGY), the world's largest investor-owned utility by market value, doesn't see any need for antitrust-related provisions in 2008, Chief Financial Officer Marcus Schenck told reporters at the company's annual earnings press conference Thursday.
"We don't expect antitrust charges this year," Schenck said.
His comments came a day after the German Federal Cartel Office said it is preparing to launch a probe of around 35 gas companies on suspicion of inflated prices. E.ON Wednesday said five of its regional suppliers are affected by the probe.
Schenck also said the company may return to the bond market in 2008, adding that issues of euro and U.S. dollar denominated bonds are possible.
He said the company has numerous options to meet its funding requirements, including bonds denominated in other currencies as well as other financial instruments.
Schenck said the company will be "very opportunistic" in meeting its funding requirements.
