Russia's biggest oil producer OAO Rosneft (ROSN.RS) wants the government to lower export duty on light petroleum products in order to promote the modernization of the plants that produce them, the Vedomosti business daily reported Wednesday.

Citing a company presentation, the paper said Rosneft wants export duty on crude exports cut to around 60% from the 71%-to-73% currently, arguing that it's currently more profitable for oil companies to export heavier products.

State-owned Rosneft is also proposing a reduction in domestic gasoline duty and the removal of excise tax on imports of refinery hardware.
