British Energy PLC (BGY.LN) expects to return its 1,090-megawatt Dungeness B nuclear power station to service in the fourth quarter of this year, a spokeswoman for the company said Friday.

Dungeness B unit 21 has been offline since July 3 for an extended refueling outage and unit 22 has been offline since June 28 due to an extended planned statutory outage, the spokeswoman said.

The 1,160-MW Heysham 1 and 1,190-MW Hartlepool power stations are also due to return in the fourth quarter of this year.

Heysham 1 and Hartlepool have both been offline since September 2007 due to boiler closure issues.

This means six of British Energy's eight nuclear reactors that are currently offline are due to return to service in the fourth quarter of 2008.

No date has been given for the return of the remaining two nuclear reactors that are offline.

British Energy isn't providing a date for the return to full capacity of unit 3 and unit 4 at Hunterston B and unit 3 at Hinkley Point B. The three units, or reactors, are functioning at 70% of capacity following boiler tube repairs.

Unit 4 at Hinkley point B will be offline for several weeks due to a planned statutory outage that began in September, the spokeswoman said.

British Energy also didn't give a date for the return of Heysham 2 unit 7, which has been offline since September for a planned statutory outage.

Heysham 2 unit 8, Torness power station and Sizwell B are all online.
