Iran will begin gas exports to Armenia by October 13, the Oil Ministry's official Shana news Web site reported Monday, citing the director of engineering affairs for the National Iranian Gas Export Company (NIGEC).
Rasoul Salmani said Iran plans to export about 1.1 billion cubic meters of gas a year to Armenia and will raise the export amount to 2.3 billion cubic meters a year in 2019, reported Shana.
Salmani added that Armenia will also start electricity exports to Iran, adding that in return for its gas exports to Armenia, Iran will import 3.3 billion kilowatt/hour a year from Armenia, according to Shana.
The senior natural gas official said Armenia has expressed its readiness to receive Iranian gas from October 10, but the gas will be officially exported to the country in a ceremony on October 13, Shana said.
