Russia's OAO Gazprom (GAZP.RS) Thursday said from Jan. 1 it isn't obliged to continue supplying natural gas to Ukraine, which has fallen behind on payments, and may halt deliveries.
Gazprom spokesman Sergei Kupryanov told reporters Ukraine had paid off its debt for October, but has said it won't complete payments for November and December before 2009.
He confirmed Gazprom had received $800 million from Ukraine.
