Turkey-based Bosphorus Gas said Friday it has taken over a natural gas sale contract between state-owned gas company BOTAS and Russia's Gazprom (GAZP.RS), Ihlas News Agency, or IHA, reported.

Under the contract Gazprom will provide an annual 750 million cubic metres of natural gas to Bosphorus Gas until 2021, the company said in a statement.

BOTAS has been privatising its natural gas purchase and sale contracts since 2005.

After finalising the privatising process of the contracts, 10% of the natural gas import of Turkey will be transfered to private sector.

Bosphorus Gas contract accounts for almost 2% of Turkey's annual natural gas imports.
