The U.A.E.-based Dana Gas said Monday it made its second gas find in Egypt for the year of around 20 billion cubic feet of dry gas.

The discovery was made at West Manzala concession, Dana Gas said in a statement on the Abu Dhabi bourse Web site.

In January, the company said its discovery at the Salma-1 well will add over 200 billion cubic feet of gas, more than doubling its reserves in the country.

Dana Gas ended 2008 with a daily production rate from its Egyptian operations of 31,640 barrels of oil equivalent (boe).

Dana Gas said earlier this month it was on target to increase oil and gas production by more than 70% to about 68,000 barrels a day of oil equivalent in 2009 as it is moving ahead with development plans in Egypt, northern Iraq's Kurdish region and the U.A.E.
