The building of new nuclear power plants isn't an option for Germany which, instead, has opted for lifespan extension, German Economy Minister Karl-Theodor zu Guttenberg said in an interview with Handelsblatt Tuesday.
"With the help of lifespan extension we can have a bridge to a modern energy infrastructure," he is quoted as saying.
The funds could be invested in energy efficiency, renewable energy and research, and to benefit the consumers, he adds.
