Eni SpA (E) Chief Executive Paolo Scaroni Thursday said the Italian company may use the $4.2 billion it received from OAO Gazprom (GAZP.RS) for small acquisitions.
"I don't exclude small synergic operations" from the proceeds, he told reporters at a press conference following its annual shareholders' meeting in Rome.
Earlier this month, Gazprom paid Eni $4.2 billion for its 20% stake in Russian oil company Gazprom Neft (SIBN.RS).
Scaroni said the company's focus is on keeping its strong credit rating, capital expenditure and "generous" payout to shareholders.
