RWE Innogy Eyes Around 900 MW In Italy Renewables Capacity

RWE Innogy, the renewables energy unit of German utility RWE AG (RWE.XE) plans to build around 900 megawatt of generation capacity in Italy in coming years, Chief Executive Fritz Vahrenholdt said Monday.
RWE Innogy, the renewables energy unit of German utility RWE AG (RWE.XE) plans to build around 900 megawatt of generation capacity in Italy in coming years, Chief Executive Fritz Vahrenholdt said Monday.

The Italian market is attractive in light of Italy's generous support framework for renewable energy sources, Vahrenhodt said at a conference on financing of renewable energies.

He added that returns on investment into renewable energies in Italy are relatively high compared with other European countries due to an investment incentive program that consists of feed-in tariffs and certificate-based compensation for electricity produced from renewable energies.
