Russian gas firm OAO Gazprom (GAZP.RS) has signed a memorandum with Japan on preparing a feasibility study for gas supplies from Vladivostok to Japan and other countries in the Asia-Pacific region, the company said Tuesday.
The memorandum envisions transportation of gas to Asian markets and possibly refining and marketing with Japanese companies Itochu Corp. (8001.TO) and Japan Petroleum Exploration Co. Ltd. (1662.TO), Gazprom said.
The Russian company, which controls the Sakhalin-2 projects, sees construction of a pipeline linking the Sakhalin island to Vladivostok as a "priority project."
