Iraq will hold its first bidding round for prized oil and gas fields as shceduled on June 29, a government spokesman said Wednesday.
"Iraq will hold the first round bidding round to award six oil fields and two gas fields on June 29," Iraqi government spokesman Ali Al-Dabbagh told a news conference he held alongside Oil Minister Hussein al-Shahristani.
"When these oil fields are developed, Iraq's oil production will increase from around 2.4 million barrels a day currently to more than 4 million barrels a day," al-Shahristani said.
