Azerbaijan plans to slightly boost its annual oil production to about 50 million metric tons in 2010 from 48 million tons planned for this year, an official at Azerbaijan's state oil company Socar said Thursday.

Murat Heydarov, an advisor to the company's president, said at an oil and gas conference in Almaty, Kazakhstan, that Azerbaijan plans to produce 27 billion cubic meters of natural gas next year. Of that, between 16 billion and 18 billion cubic meters will be sold to customers and the rest would be reinjected back into wells.

Azerbaijan produced 25 billion cubic meters of natural gas last year and this year's output is expected at 27 billion, Heydarov said.

He said that Azerbaijan's natural gas export next year will remain flat at around 8 billion or 9 billion cubic meters.
