Russia's Gazprom plans to participate in a tender for Bahrain's deep natural gas exploration project put forward by the National Oil and Gas Authority at the end of last year, Manama-based Al Waqt daily reports Monday.
A delegation led by Gazprom's chief executive Boris Ivanov visited Bahrain last week to get acquainted with the project's tender details, the paper reports, citing sources described as reliable.
Out of 20 companies that had shown interest in the project, Occidental Middle East Development Co. and Canadian Natural Resources have submitted bids for the tender so far, Al Waqt says.
