Utility giant Electricite de France SA's (EDF.FR) motivation to consider investing in the planned South Stream natural gas pipeline is to secure more gas, a company executive said Wednesday.
Utility giant Electricite de France SA's (EDF.FR) motivation to consider investing in the planned South Stream natural gas pipeline is to secure more gas, a company executive said Wednesday.

EDF is in talks with Russia's OAO Gazprom (GAZP.RS) with a view to investing in South Stream, a planned pipeline to pump Russian gas to Europe bypassing Ukraine.

Separately, EDF Executive Vice President for Gas Dominique Venet told reporters on the sidelines of an energy conference here that the company is open to selling minority stakes in its planned liquefied natural gas regassification terminal at Dunkirk.
