Kazakhstan's President Nursultan Nazarbayev said Thursday his country is ready to participate in the Samsun-Ceyhan oil pipeline project together with Russia, the Ihlas News Agency, or IHA, reported.

Addressing to the Turkish Parliament during an official visit, Nazarbayev said: "As we supported Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan Pipeline previously, we are also ready to participate in the Samsun-Ceyhan Oil Pipeline Project together with Russia."

The Samsun-Ceyhan pipeline aims to transport oil from the Black Sea port of Samsun to the Mediterranean one of Ceyhan across Turkey, avoiding the use of ships to cross the busy Istanbul Strait.

Italy's Eni SpA (E), Turkish Calik Holdings, and Russian JSC Transneft and OAO Rosneft (ROSN.RS) Monday signed a memorandum of understanding to discuss conditions to allow Russian companies to participate in the Samsun-Ceyhan Pipeline Project.
