Turkey expects to start a tender process for the privatization of Ankara-based natural gas distributor Baskent Dogalgaz towards the end of this year, Finance Minister Mehmet Simsek said Friday, the Ihlas News Agency, or IHA, reports.
Speaking at a conference, Simsek also said the government will determine privatization strategies for the remaining state-held shares in fixed-line operator Turk Telekom (TTKOM.IS) and state-run Turkiye Halk Bankasi AS, or Halkbank (HALKB.IS).
Turk Telekom listed 15% of its shares in an initial public offering last year. The IPO was the second phase of Turk Telekom's privatization.
Turk Telekom was partly privatized in 2005 when Oger Telecom purchased a 55% stake of the company for $6.55 billion. The remainder of the company belongs to the state.
Meanwhile, a 75% stake of Halkbank also belongs to the state.
