The current unseasonal cold weather in Northern Europe isn't a threat to French power supplies, Dominique Maillard, the head of France's electricity transport network RTE, said in an interview with French business daily La Tribune Wednesday.

France has been importing power over the last few months to face the increasing electricity demand as a lot of French homes are equiped with electrical heaters, Maillard explained.

The country, whose electricity is 80% nuclear-produced, remains a net power exporter and exported in 2009 between 25 terawatt hours and 30TWh, after having exported around 45TWh in 2008, Maillard also said.
