Hungary's Finance Ministry Thursday called "false news" an unconfirmed report in newspaper Vedomosti that said it intends to buy back a stake in MOL. Nyrt. (MOL.BU) from Russia's Surgutneftegaz (SNGS.RS).
"I think this is [false news]," said Tamas Katona, state secretary for the Finance Ministry.
Earlier Vedomosti reported that MOL intends to buy back a 21.1% stake in MOL from Surgutneftegaz.
Surgut bought the MOL stake for EUR1.4 billion last spring from Austria's OMV AG (OMV.VI), but the Hungarian company declined to collaborate with its new shareholder, Vedomosti reported.
