Greek producer prices rose 8.7 percent year-on-year in March, pushed higher by increased energy costs compared to the same period last year, the Hellenic Statistical Authority (ELSTAT) said yesterday. Greek consumer price inflation accelerated to an annual 3.9 percent pace in March. “The upward trend in the producer price index reflects higher energy costs due to rising oil prices and the relatively higher costs of intermediate goods due to the continuing rebound of global economic activity,” said National Bank economist Nikos Magginas. “The continuing slowdown in domestic demand is expected to lead the index to lower levels.” (Reuters)
