French oil major Total SA (TOT) said Tuesday its TEPA (Block 15/06) Ltd. unit and partners discovered oil at the Mpungi-1 well in deep-water reaches offshore Angola.

unit and partners discovered oil at the Mpungi-1 well in deep-water reaches
offshore Angola.
The well is located at block 15/06 some 120 kilometers off the Angolan coast in
1,050 meters of water, with a total depth of 2,300 meters. It encountered pay
at both the Upper and Middle Miocene sand reservoirs, Total said.
During production tests, limited by the surface facilities, Mpungi-1 produced
light oil at a flow rate over 6,000 barrels per day.
TEPA holds 15% of the interest in Block 15/06, which is operated by Italian oil
group ENI Spa (ENI.MI), which holds 35%, Total said, without elaborating on
other partners.
