CEZ AS (CEZ), the biggest Czech energy producer, plans to add as much as 2,000 megawatts of renewable energy in Romania as part of a plan to boost green capacity by 3,000 megawatts,Ziarul Financiar reported, citing Jan Veskrna, the chief executive officer of the company’s Romanian unit.

The Czech utility may invest 3 billion euros ($4 billion) in renewable energy by 2013, about half of that in Romania, where some new projects may be bought from developers, according to the Bucharest-based newspaper. CEZ also plans to buy small hydro-power plants in Romania, ZF said.

CEZ has about 600 megawatts of wind power under development in the Dobrogea region of southern Romania.
