The head of Iran's national oil company warned Friday that world energy markets couldn't do without the country's oil and gas, after France Thursday reiterated a call to ban Tehran's crude from Europe.

Speaking to the semi-official Mehr agency, Ahmed Ghalebani, head of the
country's Iranian National Oil Co., said that regarding "oil and natural
gas reserves, [Iran] is in possession of a significant place in the world
energy market. It isn't acceptable to ignore
Iran
's oil
and gas in global trade."
Iran
holds
the world's second largest natural gas reserves and is the second biggest crude
exporter in the Organization of Petroleum Exporting Countries.
