Noble Energy Inc. expects to release the initial results on the Aphrodite structure from its exploratory well at Block 12 in Cypriot waters later this week. Sources inform ''Globes'' that the company has received the results from the exploratory well, located 40 kilometers north of Israel's Leviathan natural gas field.
Ahead of the publication, energy market sources expect the gas reserves at Block 12 to be similar in size to the reserves in Israel's Tamar field, and maybe larger. The 3D seismic survey conducted on the Aphrodite structure in June 2010 found that it has 3-9 trillion cubic feet (TCF) of natural gas. Tamar has 9 TCF and Leviathan has 16 TCF.
