Besson "notes with satisfaction that all of the French nuclear
installations audited by the Autorite de Surete Nucleaire show a safety level
sufficient enough to keep up operations," the minister's office said in a
statement. Yet "this level of safety must be increased," Besson is
also quoted as saying.
Besson will meet with the executives of state-controlled power giant
Electricite de France SA (EDF.FR), which owns and operates all of
France
's 58
nuclear reactors, as well as the executives of state-controlled nuclear
engineering firm Areva SA (AREVA.FR) and nuclear public agency Commissariat à
l'Energie Atomique, which is Areva's majority shareholder.
