Turkey hopes to restore gas supplies to Greece by Wednesday after technical problems stopped gas destined for Greece reaching Turkey from Azerbaijan and Iran , Turkish energy minister Taner Yildiz said Tuesday.

"We supply gas to
Greece when we receive it," Yildez said.

Turkish media reported that
Turkey halted its gas supply to Greece Tuesday, citing Turkish energy ministry officials.

Turkish state news agency Anadolu said that gas had been cut from
Azerbaijan and reduced from Iran "due to a technical failure between the two countries compressor stations. The flow of energy to Turkish households had not been affected."

Kenan Yavuz, chief executive of Turkish energy company Turkas told NTV: "this is a technical problem which will soon be resolved."

Turkey is dependent on energy supplies from abroad and it imports natural gas from Iran , Russia and Azerbaijan . Azerbaijan is the country's second largest gas supplier after Russia .
