U.K.-based shale-gas explorer Cuadrilla Resources expects to resume drilling in northwest England later this year and could start gas production in 2014, Bloomberg News reported Friday, citing the company's chief executive.

Friday, citing the company's chief executive.
"By the first quarter of 2013, we will be far enough along in the
exploration program to say this makes sense to go ahead and apply for a full
field development permit," Bloomberg quoted Mark Miller as saying in an
interview. "Production could be under way as early as 2014."
The company suspended drilling after evidence showed its operations caused two
tremors last year.
