Spanish energy group Iberdrola began operating three new wind parks in the U.S. Tuesday, the company said, a move that strengthens its position as the number two renewable energy operator in the country.

The wind parks are located in
California
,
New
Hampshire
and
Massachusetts
, and
they have a total capacity of over 265 megawatts, the company said in a
statement.
"With these three new complexes Iberdrola consolidates its commitment to
the
United States
and
takes advantage of the country's commitment to wind energy, which is without a
doubt the most efficient and mature of all renewables," it said.
The largest of the three new wind parks is located in
Manzana
,
California
and
it has an installed capacity of 189 megawatts, making it one of the biggest
wind parks in the world, the company said.
It has 126 wind turbines produced by
U.S.
industrial giant General Electric Co. (GE).
The company also started operating a wind park in
Groton
,
New
Hampshire
, with 24 wind turbines with a combined capacity of
48 megawatts and one in
Hoosac
,
Massachusetts
, that
has 19 wind turbines with a capacity of 28.5 megawatts.
The wind turbines used in
Groton
were
made by
Spain
's
Gamesa while those used in Hoosac were made by General Electric.
Iberdrola has been present in the
U.S.
since
2006. It has over 5,700 megawatts of installed capacity in the world's largest
economy.
