Eni Sees 2013 Algeria Gas Output Up After New Gas Field Start

Eni SpA (E), Italy's biggest energy company by market value, Monday said it has started natural gas production from the Menzel Ledjmet East field in Algeria, and predicts the development will boost its daily output to 100,000 barrels of oil equivalent this year in the North African country.

In a statement, Eni said the production at the field, located in Block 405b about 1,000 kilometers from
Algiers , is jointly operated with the Algerian state-owned energy company Sonatrach. Output started Thursday, it added.

Eni's 2012 daily production in
Algeria was about 80,000 BOE. The Rome-based company said it was the leading producer in Algeria last year.
