Small scale rooftop photovoltaics were excluded from taxation after all, as the Greek government presented yesterday the final bill of law which will bring changes in the wider economy and covers many important issues from taxes to renewable energy.

Since last year, Greek producers of renewable energy are forced to pay a certain percentage of their income as a tax, in order to help cover the ever rising cost of RES. This year, this percentage will rise from 30-36% to 40-42% for photovoltaic plants connected to the system after July, according to the new bill of law presented by the government on Thursday.

Of course, the biggest change is the moratorium on the connection of new photovoltaics until the end of the year, but at least the small scale producers were spared the burden of taxation.
