OAO Gazprom Neft (SIBN.RS), the oil arm of state-controlled gas giant OAO Gazprom (GAZP.RS), has signed a technological cooperation deal with oilfield services company Halliburton Co. (HAL), the Russian firm said in a statement Tuesday.

The companies will exchange data and know-how on using innovative technology, including for work on hard-to-recover resources.

Russia , which vies with Saudi Arabia as the world's top oil producer, is looking to develop more complex oil resources as output at its Soviet-era fields dwindles.

Gazprom Neft wants to raise its annual hydrocarbon production to 100 million metric tons of oil equivalent by 2020, the company's first deputy chief executive, Vadim Yakovlev, said in a statement. More than half of that total will come from the use of new technologies, he added.
