Turkish power producer Zorlu Enerji [BIST:ZOREN] said Monday its wholly-owned
unit Zorlu Dogal Elektrik Uretimi has put into operation a 60 megawatt (MW)
geothermal plant under the first phase of its 80 MW Kizildere II project in
southwestern Turkey.
The plant, located in the Kizildere geothermal field
in the province of Denizli, started producing power on August 31, upon
completing performance and safety tests and receiving an official ministerial
approval, Zorlu Enerji said in a statement filed to Borsa Istanbul.
Zorlu
Enerji also operates a 15 MW geothermal plant in the Kizildere field. The
company acquired a license to exploit the field and operate the existing
geothermal plant there for 30 years in a privatisation tender in 2008.
