Bosnian power utility Elektroprivreda BiH (EPBiH) said on Tuesday a Chinese consortium of Gezhouba Group and Guangdong Electric Power Design Institute has filed the sole valid bid in a tender to select a partner to build a 450 megawatt unit at the Tuzla thermal power plant (TPP).

The unsealing of the final bids of the shortlisted candidates was held on April 17.

The other shortlisted candidate - Mitsubishi Hitachi Power Systems, submitted a letter, saying that due to the political situation in Bosnia, it is not in a position to ensure its own participation in the financing of the project and is therefore unable to file a final bid, EPBiH said in a statement.

After an expert analysis, the Chinese bid will be forwarded for further evaluation and follow-up steps to the company's management, supervisory board and assembly, the statement said.

The construction of Tuzla TPP's seventh unit is estimated to cost 1.6 billion marka ($1.1 billion/818 million euro).
